Richard D. Shinbaum graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1974, after obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama in 1971. Subsequently, he went on to receive his Masters in Law from New York University in 1975. Following graduation from law school, Richard practiced in the areas of criminal and civil litigation and was appointed to the Alabama Advisory Council of U.S. Civil Rights Commission.
Richard is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of Alabama and now concentrates on consumer bankruptcy cases and civil litigation. He has served in numerous positions within the Commercial Law section of the Alabama State Bar including Newsletter Editor, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairman. He is a member of the American Bar Association, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, and National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Richard has served as a featured speaker at seminars throughout the state in the area of consumer bankruptcy, is a regular television guest on WAKA Channel 8′s Law Line, and has been a television guest on The Time of Your Life, a weekly television show for seniors. He has taught numerous continuing legal education seminars for other lawyers on bankruptcy law.
