Attorney Charles Grainger possesses decades of legal experience focused on debtor-creditor law, bankruptcy, and business law. His legal work is designed to help clients overcome debt and secure a stronger financial footing. He also provides legal services to entrepreneurs and business owners. Grainger Legal Services takes a comprehensive approach to debt relief and financial education for clients in south-central Alabama.
“While people coming to see a lawyer about their finances often will need a bankruptcy, we take a broader view of their situation in order to make sure that is the appropriate solution, because the goal is not to file bankruptcy – the goal is to get out of the hole. Even though bankruptcy is a very powerful tool to provide debt relief, other methods of eliminating debt may be more fitting to their circumstances.”
Mr. Grainger coaches his clients and suggests additional measures they can take to succeed financially. He also does a thorough evaluation of their assets and liabilities to ensure the best outcomes possible. This holistic approach not only provides debt relief but also positions clients to build a stronger financial foundation going forward.
“In addition to the scope of our evaluation, we also believe in educating our clients so they have a basic understanding of the steps we must take together. We provide literature with charts that describe the bankruptcy process and make sure they are well-prepared. We also answer all their questions and seek to reassure them. Our goal is not simply to tell clients what they need to do, but to explain why and how everything will work.”
For Mr. Grainger, practicing law is not just about legal files, statutes, and courtrooms – it’s about human beings and the quality of the lives they lead. He uses his legal skills to help others and make the community a better place.
“We enjoy the opportunity our work provides us to minister to the lives of people. Most people we see have gone through a period of denial and then have become oppressed by their fears. They genuinely want to pay their debts but can’t, either due to circumstances beyond their control, past mistakes, or a combination of both. They often have not been sleeping well and carry an enormous weight on their shoulders. It is very gratifying to help people get a fresh start or at least get some breathing room.”
Outside the office, Mr. Grainger enjoys spending time with his wife, Michell, and their three children. The couple enjoys traveling throughout the United States and abroad. They’re also big sports fans and can be found cheering for Alabama football, the Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics. Their dog Fenway is named after the home of the Boston Red Sox – Fenway Park. Mr. Grainger also enjoys hunting, fishing, and listening to music.
